Newfoundland's Hurricanes Blow into Town (10/07/2011)

The St. John's Hurricanes, members of the Coors Light St. John's Touch Football League http://www.touch-football.com/, are coming to Halifax October 15-16 for a couple of games against the MTFL. On Saturday, October 15, they'll be playing Darkside at 1:00PM on the Burnside Turf, and on Sunday they're up against Park West on the Commons at 10:30AM. Please come out and watch if you have a chance. Good luck to all and let's hope for great weather!

DMB Takes 2 from Moncton (09/12/2011)

Under the cool sunny skies of Halifax Commons, Dartmouth Metals and Bottles defeated a game Moncton Blackhawks squad 46-0 and 41-14 on Saturday September 10. Thanks to our New Brunswick friends for making the trip, we hope to be able to reciprocate next season and to even revive old rivalries in the near future by re-establishing an inter provincial tournament much like the old Natal Day weekend event.

Moncton to Play DMB Sept 10 (09/01/2011)

Not only is Sept 10-11 our mega make-up weekend but it also involves a couple exhibition games between Moncton and Dartmouth Metals & Bottles. They're playing games on Commons A on Saturday at 11:30 and 1:30. I encourage any to come out and see some high quality touch and show support for our Moncton friends.

DNS Transfer Complete (06/29/2011)

The Metro Touch Football League site has a new hosting provider. As of 11:30pm on June 29th, most if not all of you should now be able to view the site in its new environment. If you can read this article, you're looking at the current version of the site. The league is hopeful the new hosting solution will offer better reliability and quicker response times than the previous host.

DNS Transfer To New Host (06/28/2011)

Referees: Please have all game stats entered by June 30th. The MTFL is switching to a new web hosting provider and I plan to take a cut of the database sometime on or around June 30th and change the DNS settings for the web site. If you wait too long, the stats you enter will be posted to the wrong site.

Referee Clinic this Friday (06/07/2011)

Time: 6:30-8:30pm
Place: Bloomfield Recreation Centre (Agricola St)
Cost: FREE

The clinic is open to anyone who is interested in becoming an Touch Football Offical or wants a quick brush up on the rules and common penalties encounted during a game of touch footballl.

The session is meant to be interactive to bring your questions and scenarios and we'll try and get some answers and rulings!

Handouts will be provided.

First League Meeting of 2011 (04/15/2011)

The first league meeting of 2011 is scheduled for Wednesday, April 27th at 7pm at the Bloomfield Center. All teams wishing to be part of the 2011 MTFL season must have a representative present. New players and representatives for teams new to the league are also advised to attend.

Flag Football Spring League (02/12/2011)

Football Nova Scotia is excited to announce the development of the Metro Mens Flag Football League. The league will begin operation this spring with
the season running from mid-March until the May long weekend. Initially teams will compete in a single
division competitive league playing 10 games and culminating in a playoff on the May long weekend.

Teams will consist of 8-15 players and will
play using the 5 on 5 Football Canada Flag Football rules. Games will be played cross field on a 65x30
field and consist of 2x20 minute halves. All games will be played at an All-Weather Turf field location in the HRM.

Team Registration

Anyone interested in participating in a flag football league this spring should contact Todd Van Ritchie at technicaldirector@footballnovascotia.ca. Provide him with your team's name, your team representative's name and email address and the names of all team members.

Player Registration will cost $70/player for
the season. All players must use online player registration which will soon be available through the FNS
website
. Players will be asked to register individually and then select the team they are playing
for. Individuals who do not have a team to join will be placed on a team for the season by the League
Coordinator.
