About MTFL

The Metro Touch Football League was founded in 1967 and in 2020 will enjoy its 54th consecutive season of play. Over the years many graduates of minor and high school football and the CIS have participated in the league. With play covering a season from early June until the end of September, registration is open to individuals 16 years of age up to 50+. The league plays on 2 fields on the Halifax Commons (corner of Robie & Cogswell), with games scheduled weeknights from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and weekends 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. A typical schedule provides 16 regular-season games plus playoffs and is usually broken down into 2 divisions with a competitive and recreational focus.

The MTFL also uses accredited referees and has an elected executive consisting of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer & Referee-in-Chief, in addition to a Committee which overseas Discipline.

The number of teams has ranged from 12 – 18 over the past several years. Team rosters generally average 14-16 players in a 7 on 7 formats. Games are played on a full field, 100yds x 60yds. MTFL is an excellent way to continue to enjoy football in a safe and well-organized manner. A great way to have fun, exercise, socialize and compete.
